That’s when you call your Hilton Head auto movers and enlist in their services to bring your car down while you take a flight. Your car will be at your new location waiting for you and there, first thing in the morning for you to be able to use and go to work or get things done.

Perfect condition, every time!

It’s Much Safer

Gullah_s_carolina_1790South Carolina and the Georgia low-country are home to one of the most unique cultures in America. The Gullah people are the descendants of slaves brought from West Africa to harvest rice on plantations. The swampy bayous of the region are a natural breeding ground for malaria and yellow fever carrying mosquitoes . Thanks to the higher resistance these slaves had developed in Africa they were better equipped to survive these maladies. As a consequence these plantations were largely run by other slave overseers, leaving the Gullah free to retain much of their original African culture.

Today the Gullah culture is alive and well, with notables like Clarence Thomas and Michelle Obama tracing their roots to the Gullah people. Each year this rich cultural heritage is celebrated with the Gullah Celebration, held on Hilton Head Island. 70,000 people from around the world will attend this year’s event. While the event is a celebration of art, music, history and culture Gullah cuisine is the real star.

The Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island is in the process of adding some new features in an effort to get people moving back to the southern part of the island and make it more of a desirable spot to visit.

The first of these improvements is a two-story, 25,000-square-foot beach club. The first floor of the club recently opened up with a restaurant called “Coast”, a retail store, a beach front market, and expanded restrooms with showers and changing rooms. Later in the month the beach club will open up the second floor with a covered bar, patio seating area, and rooms available for private parties.

The new club cost $12 million to build and it replaced the old oceanfront club built over 40 years ago. So far the ownership group has spent around $50 million dollars upgrading the resort since they bought it almost 10 years ago.

The next project for the resort is a new, $20 million dollar golf club house. The new club house will be 18,000-square-feet, three-story building. This building will have an art gallery, restaurant, and men’s and women’s locker rooms with 150 full-sized lockers. The building will also have an expanded pro-shop. The club house should be ready by next years RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing golf tournament that the resort hosts every year.

High tides and strong wind in October have caused quite a bit of beachfront erosion here in Hilton Head, and on Thursday the island experienced the highest tide of 2011 at a whopping nine feet high! If you have recently completed moving to Hilton Head, the recent news of beach land erosion may worry you a bit, but in actuality erosion is a normal part of being a barrier island. Just as sand moves away due to erosion, sand also gathers due to the natural ebb and flow of the elements. In other Hilton Head news, the area known as our island’s heel will soon undergo operations to replenish beach land. Roughly one million cubic yards of sand will be added to the beach as soon as this week; special equipment will be moved to the island’s heel soon so that work may begin. The project should be finished on or before February 15th, and will be very advantageous considering that erosion of the island’s heel causes 100 feet or so of sand to move away each year. Barrier island life sure is interesting, isn’t it?

The Avid Gardeners club of Hilton Head recently received two excellence awards from the National Garden Clubs Incorporated. The Avid Gardeners won first place in the “Pink Glove” category for the 2010 “Plant it Pink Garden,” which craftily utilizes pink planter pots along the borders of its Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon design. The garden has been cared for by members of the Avid Gardeners and was funded in part by donations from various Hilton Head businesses. Your Hilton Head moving professionals here were so moved by the “Plant it Pink Garden” that we’ve considered starting up a garden of our own; perhaps your relocation specialists here will win another award for Hilton Head!

The second of the two awards was presented to the Avid Gardeners for the “Korosi Vegetable and Herb Education Garden,” which was put together as a way for children to get involved with the Avid Gardener’s club and also to promote healthy eating habits among Hilton Head kids. Way to go, Avid Gardeners! Your Hilton Head professional movers can’t wait to see what kind of garden creations you all come up with next!
